BANGKOK, Feb 8 - The executives of the Thai Raksa Chart Party has presented the name of Princess Ubolratana as the party’s sole candidate for the premiership.

Party leader Preechapol Pongpanich said the nomination was filed with the Election Commission which would then examine the qualifications of the nominee. He assured that the movement of the party was constitutional.

The princess was knowledgeable and capable and had implemented the To Be Number One project to encourage young people not to abuse drugs. The princess had visited all corners of the nation, was aware of people’s troubles and wanted to save people’s from poverty, Mr Preechapol said.

The princess greatly kindly accepted the party’s invitation and was ready to work for the well-being of people and national development. New technologies would be applied for economic and social development and national unity and reconciliation would be promoted, Mr Preechapol said.

The party would do its best to translate the princess’s policies into action and the princess would decide whether she would join the vote campaigns of the party, he said.

Princess Ubolratana, 67, is the elder sister of His Majesty the King. The Thai Raksa Chart Party is affiliated to the Pheu Thai Party.
