BANGKOK, March 8 (TNA) – Marking the International Women’s Day, a women’s rights network on Friday called on Thai political parties to prioritise policies to promote women’s rights.
As part of their campaign for women’s rights ahead of Thailand’s general election on March 24, the network of 11 women’s rights groups submitted a letter to Palang Pracharat Party leader and former industry minister Uttama Savanayana.
To all political parties, the letter makes a 9-point demand to empower women such as maternal rights protection, maternity leave extension and women’s access to medical service.
One of the key demands is the objection against sexism for political gain as the political parties are campaigning for the poll in about two weeks.
Marking the International Women’s Day in Phichit province, a group representing interior ministry official’s spouses honored three centenarians. They praised the seniors as role models for living healthily.
The group took the opportunity to give health products and medical supplies to the elderly women aged 100, 105 and 114.
